For his visit this time, Lakshmisha will expound on selected verses of the “Amṛta Bindu Upaniṣad.” This text appeals to us, yoga practitioners, in that it encourages the practice of yoga for gaining direct experience and wisdom, and states that this surpasses the knowledge found in books.
The session will also include brief chanting practice of a couple of hymns.
These sessions can be followed both in-person and online.

You will not want to miss this unique opportunity to see an important Indian tradition first-hand and be part of a sacred moment, which will bestow blessings on all participants and all beings everywhere. Moreover, this intricate process will purify our yoga practice space. You are invited to come and bring a small offering such as fresh flowers, fresh fruits or dried fruits or nuts.
The event will last approximately 90 minutes and is open to everyone. A suggested donation of €20 is greatly appreciated.
Please note: the Sunday pūja is donation-based and not included in the package deal (it's an optional extra).
About Lakshmisha
Born into a humble Brahmin family in a village called Madageri near Gokarna, Lakshmisha is the resident philosophy and chanting teacher at Sharath Yoga Centre in Mysore. He has been teaching hundreds, if not thousands, of Ashtanga practitioners for more than two decades there. At the same time he is also the Jois family’s house priest, performing the daily rituals at their homes.
Lakshmisha undertook yoga asana practice under Guruji Sharath Jois. In the meantime, he also received the Vidwan title from the Sanskrit College in Advaita Vedanta philosophy and completed his master’s degree in Sanskrit from Mysore University in 2006. The same year, he married his spouse Ranjita. They have a son, Gautama.
LakshmishaJi believes yoga is incomplete without the right understanding of the theory and strives to impart that knowledge to everyone who comes seeking it.
He is known for his accessible teaching methods, his brilliance, sense of humor and kindness. Each class with him is totally new and ever inspiring, and we are honored to host him in Antwerp for the fourth time.
